A private funeral service was held for Mrs. Margaret “Honey” Thomason Suit, 95, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, with Rev. Roland Fontenot officiating and burial followed at the mausoleum on the grounds of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church.
A native of Beaver, Oklahoma and resident of New Iberia, Margaret “Honey” Suit passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2024, at her residence in New Iberia. Honey is leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity. Devoted to her family, Margaret cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart, finding immense joy in their presence and accomplishments. Whether it was through her warm embraces or her unwavering support at every sporting event, Honey’s love knew no bounds, shaping countless cherished memories for generations to come.
Beyond her role as a nurturing matriarch, Honey was a woman of diverse passions. An avid bass angler, she found solace and excitement on the tranquil waters, and her enthusiasm for all sports knew no bounds as she cheered passionately from the sidelines. Moreover, Margaret’s creative spirit found expression through her paintings. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Margaret “Honey” Suit is survived by her children Jerry Eugene Suit and wife Jeanette Comeaux Suit of Milam, Texas, Kevin Riley Suit and wife Inés “Nena” Bedia Suit of New Iberia; her granddaughters Cristy Bethancourt Crispino and her husband Johnny of Houma and Julie Bethancourt Leonard and her husband Cory of Houma; her grandsons Joey Bethancourt and his wife Wendy of Saraland, Alabama; Benjamin R. Suit and his wife Taylor of Port Arthur, Texas and Zachary J. Suit and his wife Melinda of Denton, Texas; her great-grandchildren Ian Crispino, Evan Crispino, Lauren Leonard and Allison Leonard, all of Houma and Caleb Edmonds and Cayden Bethancourt of Saraland, Alabama; her one brother, John D. Thomason of Oklahoma; as well as her nieces, nephews and other family members from Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Jerry Dean Suit; her parents Jack C. and Katherine E. Thomason; her daughter Janice Lee Bethancourt and her husband Arthur J. Bethancourt; her grandson Joshua Eric Suit; and her two sisters, Norma Gay Thomason and Nora Eunice Broomfield.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Joey Bethancourt, Benjamin R. Suit, Zachary J. Suit, Johnny Crispino, Ian Crispino, Evan Crispino and Cory Leonard. Honorary pallbearer was John Thomason.
The family would like to thank Brightcare Homecare and especially Honey’s devoted and loving sitters, Trinicia Edmond and Katie Mouton for their support and kindness.
