The Noble Nelson Clan
A Journey to Reclaim Our Chitimacha Identity
By Peter Nelson and Robert Leiterman
Autographed Paperback $31.95
The Chitimacha tribe was once the most powerful tribe living along the Gulf coast of Louisiana before the arrival of the Spanish and French settlers. Their lives were dramatically altered during the devastating war with the French (1707-1718). For the next 500 years they sought sanctuary along the shores of Grand Lake. In 1767 they were given a land grant by the Spanish. This book is about the journey taken by two cousins as they reconnect with their inner Chitimacha. In this 800 page volume they document their family’s history reclaiming their Chitimacha identity and provide a well chronicled history of the Chitimacha Nation.
