LETTER TO THE EDITOR: I’d hate to be in Haiti right now

There are some among us that feel that we are all destined to ‘go to Hell’ from the get-go unless we, individually, work things out while living to avoid such fate.

And there are some others who don’t 100% agree and say to themselves; “I HATE to think like that”.

Most second graders have yelled at another second grader; “I HATE you!” in a moment of frustration and have been known to even say that to their own mommy too.

I’ll bet we ALL have lamented; “I HATE the very thought of (something)”, or “I HATE to see you go, hurry back soon hear?” Another version HATED to see you go, but ‘hoped to Hell you never come back’.

Hopefully the entire population of Earth is asking; “Why is there so much HATE in the world?”

Although I personally pride myself as being a NON-HATER, I think that “I’d HATE to be in Haiti right now…or in Gaza…or in Ukraine…(add in) L.A, NYC, Chi-Town, Portland, Seattle and other ‘Migrant-Meccas’.

WHAT exactly is this thing called HATE anyway?

hate; intransitive verb

1. To feel strong dislike or hostility toward.

2. To feel dislike or distaste for.

3. To be disinclined to do something out of politeness of need to apologize.

I tend to go with number 1, the strongest one.

Using my choice, a few ‘organizations’ located in the Middle East would be categorized as HATE GROUPS, the ones who commit HATE CRIMES. We Americans even have made laws against HATE CRIMES and HATE SYMBOLS such as displaying a noose, for example

And we also ‘HATE the weather’…N.O. Saints fans ‘HATE the Atlanta Falcons’ and everyone ‘HATES Child Molesters’.

I recently read that Mike Reagan has observed, then concluded, that the electorate is divided into those who HATE Trump and those who HATE Biden and the winner will be determined by who can pull the greatest number of HATERS to the polling booths. So, THIS is what the election is all about?

A few weeks ago I suggested we just BURY all this HATE…but now I find myself thinking:

I’D HATE TO BE IN HAITI RIGHT NOW.
