Why Is The Teche Area Important To You:

Growing up in New Iberia, I always suspected it was special place, but having the opportunity to move away, I now have a new vantage point to understand the true specialness my hometown offers. One of the top reasons I have loved this city so much is the people who live here. Growing up in a retail family, we had the opportunity to get to know a lot of the inhabitants of New Iberia by their shopping at our store. And boy, did we get a lot of colorful characters! Upon returning from living in New York City, I have not been disappointed by all of the fun-loving & charming people who live here. I feel so blessed to have been born and raised in such a beautiful city and community. It only took me traveling around the globe to fully appreciate just how special it is. (PS: The food’s pretty good too!)

What Do You Do For Fun:

I really LOVE keeping up with the latest TV shows and movies, especially seeing the latest fashions. Music also fills my days and I love to sing and dance along as much as possible. Keeping active is also important to me, so I often can be found running or walking my dog, Gigi. Fun for me can also come by cooking dinner for my friends and family with a side dish of laughter!

Any Hobbies:

I spend time playing lots of word games on my phone. My mom and I have a daily competition to who did better on the NY Times game, Spelling Bee. I also love a good puzzle with a glass of wine.

Who Are Your Role Models:

I have been EXTREMELY blessed in this department by having the most wonderful women guide me along the way. My journey when I left Louisiana was filled with amazing female mentors like my first boss in Los Angeles, Rande Cohen Blatt, and then moving to New York City and working with Karen Giberson of the Accessories Council and later with Katie Wickes Conovitz of TwelveNYC. They each taught me how to be classy, worldly and fierce in both business and my personal life. Lately, I’ve been so blessed to have Ellen Mullen and all of the other women on the Literary Festival Committee in my life. They bring me so much joy and teach me so much. However, my biggest role mole, is my mother Adele Wormser. She moved to New Iberia when she was only 22 and did not know a soul. I love the amazing female friendships she has made and it has always been something I aspired to have too. She’s always teaching me new ways to be a better person. She has taught me to be tough and soft all at once and I hope I make her proud.

What Are Some Of Your Future Plans Or Goals:

My biggest goal since leaving Louisiana has been to learn about all aspects of retail in hopes to reopen the Wormser’s Retail Stores. While my goal is still taking shape, I hope to see it happen within the next five years. Sometimes big things just don’t happen overnight — or so I’m learning! Yet, I hope to bring a new generation of retail to New Iberia soon.

Is There Anything Else You Would Like To Say:

Thank you for the honor. I feel truly humbled and grateful for being selected.
