“Raise your voice is the beautiful, central message of this musical about a willful songstress who finds grace and fulfillment in the place she least expects it,” said Drew Cohen, president CEO of Music Theater International.
“It is only when Deloris takes sanctuary that she finds her place in the world; through the framework of this musical these students show how each of us can find our own unique way to express ourselves,” he adds.
New Iberia Senior High presents Sister Act Jr. on April 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and April 14 at 3 p.m. in the New Iberia Senior High Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for students.
Based on the hit film of the same name, Sister Act Jr. features a music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. The show opened on the West End in 2009, and a revised adaptation opened on Broadway in 2011 which received multiple Tony nominations, including “Best Musical.”
