Teche Cafe, a local landmark in Loreauville, is under new management, but the values and traditions will remain the same.
Nicole and Hutton Daniels are the new owners of Teche Cafe and have already begun putting their mark on the cafe.
For Nicole, a Loreauville native, the Teche Cafe means a great deal to her. She knows the staff, and more importantly, the people who come in and out.
As a previous stay at home mom, Nicole worked on and off at the Teche Cafe for nine years, and she has always enjoyed her time there.
“I have always had a special place in my heart for the Teche Cafe,” Nicole said. “I have always loved the village of Loreauville. The people are just amazing. That is what made me want to take over when I realized they were retiring.”
Nicole and Hutton began talking about the possibility of taking over for owners Rose Anne and Byron Decuir for the past few months now. Nicole said she is looking forward to continuing the traditions that have kept the Teche Cafe a staple in the community for the last 19 years.
“We couldn’t think of anything better to do than to give back to the village,” Nicole said. “It’s a great community and we love to give back. We just felt it was a great opportunity.”
Nicole and Hutton said they don’t plan to change anything with Teche Cafe. They are in the middle of renovations but want to keep everything as is, as much as possible. The staff and menu will stay the same. And yes, the name will stay the same.
“I want to keep the home-town feel, just like they had it,” Nicole said. “Same food, same menu.”
Located at 105 N Main St in Loreauville, Teche Cafe will have new hours of operations, Nicole said.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: opened from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday night, Thursday night and Friday night: open from 5 to 9 p.m.
On Saturday, they will be open from 5 to 9 p.m.
And on Sundays, it’s 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
They will be closed on Mondays.
Since the announcement that Nicole and Hutton will take over as owners for the Teche Cafe, she said the community has embraced her and supported her along the way. She said she couldn’t have done it without the help of some many friends and family members.
“They say everybody has a village, my village is amazing,” Nicole said. “It takes a village.
That village was there for Nicole and Hutton. From early mornings and even longer nights, it will go a long way for the community and now the Teche Cafe.
“I won’t be able to ever describe to the people that helped us this week how much it means to us,” Nicole said. “The support is phenomenal.”
The Teche Cafe has been here for the last 19 years. And it’s here to stay. As one of the only dine-in restaurants in Loreauville, Nicole said, it helps to feed families.
Nicole said she is excited to see everything come together. She is looking forward to the journey that is ahead for her and her family.
“I am ready to serve the community,” Nicole said.
