Singleton will be one of several Loreauville seniors who will take the field with years of experience under their belts next season.

LOREAUVILLE – Not many big men can move like Dylan Singleton.

Enamored by his athleticism, Texas Tech University offered Singleton a football scholarship in February. The Loreauville High junior accepted that offer on April 17, verbally committing to the Red Raiders.

“I know the Texas Tech coaches were excited,” LHS football coach Terry Martin said. “They aren’t quite sure about his position. He has a chance to play on either side of the ball as a center or guard on offense or a three-tech (tackle) on defense.”

Singleton, who is listed in the 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-4 range at 270-280 lbs, is the 11th verbal commitment in the Red Raiders’ 2025 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 15 nationally by 247 Sports. He is rated by On3 as a three-star defensive lineman and the No. 21 player in Louisiana.

“Dylan has three official offers from Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State,” Martin said. “Louisiana Tech thinks he is a center or guard. Corey Raymond at LSU used the word ‘intrigued.’ They’re keeping a close eye on him.”

Singleton, the first Class of 2025 lineman on either side of the ball to commit to Texas Tech, could join Louisiana natives Macho Stevenson (Captain Shreve) and Justin Horne (John Curtis) in Lubbock if he eventually signs with Texas Tech.

“I expect him to get a lot of offers this spring,” Martin said. “Dylan is our best offensive lineman. He’s been working his butt off in the weight room and is running really well. A big guy like that shouldn’t be moving that fast.”

Singleton earned Best of the Teche honors in both football and basketball, where he helped the program set new benchmarks. According to Martin, Texas Tech was particularly impressed by a video of Singleton dunking the ball.

“This upcoming season, he’ll have to suck it up because he’s going to be playing a lot on both sides of the ball,” Martin said. “He’s a great center who snaps the ball really well. We run so many counter plays that he started off at guard, but he played everywhere.”

Texas Tech posted a 7-6 record in 2023, capping off its season with a 34-14 win over California at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. The Red Raiders won four of their last five games, including a 16-13 victory at No. 16 Kansas.

“I told coach (James) Blanchard that I was going to commit and he was turnt,” Singleton told the Texas Tech rivals site, RedRaiderSports.com, which referred to him as a “major target” for Blanchard, the program’s general manager.

“The moment was great. I called my momma and then I told my family about it and all that. It was a good time with my people.”
