Highland Baptist's Tyler Blissett won the 1A 800-meters, 1600-meters and 3200-meters. 

Baton Rouge – The Episcopal School of Acadiana boys track and field team won a second consecutive Class B state championship and several athletes from two other Teche Area programs won individual titles on the opening day of the LHSAA Outdoor Track and Field State Meet at LSU on Thursday.

ESA’s Anderson Frank won gold in three events, outlasting the competition in the 800-meters, 1600-meters and 3200-meters to help propel the Falcons to the school’s 96th state title. Frank was named the Class B Most Outstanding Athlete for his performances on Thursday.

Seniors Javion George and Ella Walton each finished in first place in their respective discus competitions. Freshman Corinne Knatt took second in the girls 100-meter dash, while senior Asa Moss finished in third place in the boys 100-meter dash.

Highland Baptist sophomores Tyler Blissett, Justin Suire and Madalynn Salsman led the scoring for the Bears. Blissett won the Class 1A 800-meters, 1600-meters and 3200-meters events, earning Class 1A Most Outstanding Athlete honors for the second consecutive year. Suire made two trips to the podium on Thursday, winning the discus and earning silver in the shot put. Salsman took home the gold in the 3200-meters, winning silver in the 1600-meters and placing fourth in the 800-meters.

Hanson Memorial senior John Uze dominated the Class 1A pole vault event, winning gold with a height of 3.48 meters. Senior Reid Lovell finished in third place in the javelin throw.

Classes 2A and 3A compete on Friday, with Classes 4A and 5A closing out the event on Saturday. Results from both days to follow.
