What’s the Buzz

BUZZ is flat out a ‘festival freak’ if ever there was one. Mind you, most everyone hereabouts are too, but BUZZ carries it to the ‘Nth’ degree if ever I’ve seen one do.

I will admit Free Festivals, Free Concerts and fresh air and sunshine (without TOO much heat) are very appealing to both mosquitos and humans alike. We only part company where Bug Sprays enter the picture…of course.

Three beautiful days of Spanish Stuff was provided mostly ‘totally free’ curtesy of those who treated the rest of us…Thanks y’all!

BUZZ makes it to every and all the parades marching down Main Street NILA and as many others as she possibly can. She is always wary of ‘flying objects’ coming her way…especially those that dine on mosquitos and those little footballs as well. The objects best described as members of the ‘Sucrose Family’; Candy, Sweets and Yummies that escape catching on the fly, can be then picked up before someone’s shoe flattens them. You should then put them in the cup you caught and follow Rule 2; Be Careful At All Times.

BUZZ’s cup collection is rivaled only by the mini-football, soccer ball and bouncing ball collection. She cannot wear the heavy beads, too big, too heavy, so she passes on them.

After the ‘Parade passes by’ with Freddy somewhere in the midst of it amoung the cute Queens riding in the ‘ragtops’, the marchers holding flags and banners and the dancers, (and the Police and the barricades), we all venture down to the plaza where the action is.

Now we see singers, more dancers, sitters, standers and riders with munchies, food and drink all ‘Festivalizing’ the day away

Although a wee-bitty thing, BUZZ loaded up on all kinds of stuff offered from the tents, food trucks, local establishments near-by and some stuff she found on the ground.

I watched her try to dance the Flamenco with her antennae keeping rhythm and chatting with the Artists and the Craftsmen/Craftswomen. I too got to chat with some attendees…even met a few I knew, two of which were from Abbeville and St, Martinville. Splash also ran into a few former classmates and a teacher she knew too…it was like ‘old home-week’.

The ‘COOL CARS SHOW” wrapped up our last day and I wanted to buy one, but BUZZ was getting tired and she quite frankly was wearing me out like a bubbly grandchild often does.

If you think that either one of us, or SPLASH, or Renee, or ANYONE ELSE are not going to cram in as many Festivals as they can…well, you are just plain mistaken SHA!
