LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A tale of two opinions

Published 10:48 am Monday, May 6, 2024

Saturday, May 4th’s OPINION page included one by Ted Rall and another by Star Parker. The first one contained questionable, at best, ‘facts’ and Ted’s often mis-guided assumptions based upon those ‘facts’.

The second one was, as usual, a brilliant piece based upon true facts and realistic analyses of present and past events.

Today as we struggle to make our own intelligent interpretations of the events of the day, we are tasked with the problem of deciding what to believe and what to reject.

Ted CAN write intelligently (I assume) if he wants to, but instead it appears he chooses NOT to…perhaps it is his way of just joking with us? I personally don’t think so…he is either a sincere Earthling or from another planet. Or, he is sincerely just ‘full of it’?

One has to question the motives of a Columbia University graduate who goes public with such dumb stuff as:

“…cash-grubbing Columbia prez “Minouche’…full spectrum fascist…groveler to a cabal of far-right goons…”

(How dare she) think that the slogan “From the river to the sea” is antisemitic”?

Ted cites McCarthyism and thinks the demonstrations were NOT violent in any way(!).

Ted ONLY cites that Israel slaughters Gazans, yet ignores the FACTS of October 7….hmmm.

And there goes (Republican) Mike Johnson and corporate CEOs ganging up on those who oppose bloodshed and those who seek employment but only were (peacefully) voicing their opinion.

Ted is also well versed with the college’s rulebook…after all HE is a graduate…and THEY are wrong.

So much for all that…I DO agree when he states that “people that we disagree with need to shut up”, especially, Ted, If you don’t know the words, you don’t sing the song.

Simply put “When Star Parker speaks, America listens”. Perhaps because she speaks the truth and professes morality?

Regarding the current campus unrest, MY opinion is simply this: “you reap what you sow”.

“Effects” are caused by “Causes” and if American institutions did things in the past to set the stage of the present, they themselves are to blame.

One shining example, perhaps the POSTER GIRL, is Angela Yvonne Davis; Marxist, Longtime member of the Communist Party USA, (quit and) helped found Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, active in Occupy Movement & Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Campaign, and an advocate for the Abolition of Police and Prisons…and for Black Liberation and Palestinian Solidarity.

Need I add she was prosecuted for involvement in 4 murders (year in prison, acquitted) and she ran for VP for the Communist Party USA twice?

But what BUGS me is that TEACHES impressionable minds at a University of California campus.

Yes, TIME Magazine made her WOMAN OF THE YEAR and one of the 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, but the Soviet Union awarded her the LENIN PEACE PRIZE!

SO, does anyone out there not agree with me that, if you employ Angelas to teach the kids years ago, you just MIGHT be paying the piper today?

Please remember “Guns Kill People”…they were Angela Davis’s GUNS….
