The City of Jeanerette will be putting on its second annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk on Saturday, May 18, starting at Jeanerette City Hall.

The public is invited to attend the community walk to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Organizers said one of the best ways to decrease the risk of suicide is to increase awareness and de-stigmatize speaking out when someone is suffering suicidal thoughts.

The event will also have resources for those interested in learning more about suicide prevention, as well as material educating the public about the facts and myths of suicidality as well as healthy coping.
