Lafayette man arrested for possession of child porn, sexual abuse of an animal

54-year-old Shannon Paul Bellard, of Robley Drive in Lafayette, was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, in Opelousas, by Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit on multiple sex-crime related charges.

Bellard was arrested on the following charges:

• 8 Counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 (Felony) – St. Landry Parish

• 15 Counts of sexual abuse of an animal (Felony) – St. Landry Parish

• 2 Counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 (Felony) – Lafayette Parish

This arrest was a result of a joint investigation with Attorney General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Bellard was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. He is awaiting extradition to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for the charges he is facing in Lafayette Parish.
