The Main Cup in Loreauville did its part to help the community prepare for the upcoming school year Saturday with the Bougie Burger Back to School Bash.
Organizer Marti Harrell said the inaugural event was the capstone of a month-long fundraiser to raise school supplies for teachers and students in need at Loreauville High School and Loreauville Elementary.
“This is the fundraising event for our Stuff The Bus School Drive that’s been going on since July 8, and this is the last day to drop it off,” Harrell said.
Harrell said the funds raised for the event will go to students and teachers in the community as they prepare to start another year of school in the village.
One of the highlights of the event was the large number of local groups that came together to make bash happen. Harrell said Gonsoulin’s grass-fed beef was spotlighted as part of the event, along with buns from LeJeune’s Bakery in Jeanerette, cheese from Peace Love and Smoke and cheesecake from 2 Girls and a Cheesecake.
“It’s all about having something that’s a collaborative effort,” Harrell said. “Simple Faith Coffee owns this shop and the coffee shop in Church Alley, and the concept is that we serve in simple faith, that’s what it’s all about.”
