- New Iberia’s Acadiana Spay Neuter is a nonprofit veterinary preventive care clinic.
Acadiana Spay Neuter, a non profit veterinary preventative care clinic based in New Iberia, is hosting its inaugural “Hollywoof Doggie Fashion Show,” a unique fundraising event that promises to be a night of fun, fashion, and philanthropy.
The event is set to take place on Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. at The Harvest Room in New Iberia and will feature a runway show where dogs and their owners will showcase their style for a great cause.
Organized by Nancy Lacy, the Volunteer Event Coordinator at Acadiana Spay Neuter, the “Hollywoof Doggie Fashion Show” is more than just a fashion event. It’s an opportunity for attendees to actively participate in promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership while enjoying a night of entertainment and community engagement.
“This is the biggest event we have organized yet,” Lacy said. “Attendees and participants will have the opportunity to actively demonstrate their commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Dogs and their owners will strut the runway aiming to win the hearts of the judges and attendees.”
The “Hollywoof” event will feature two main categories in which participants can compete: Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice. In each category, the winners will be crowned based on creativity, style, and the charisma of the participating pets and their owners.
The theme of the evening is inspired by the Hollywood red carpet, aptly named “Hollywoof,” where both pets and their humans are encouraged to dress to impress.
“The theme of the show is the Hollywood red carpet. We are encouraging guests and runway participants to dress accordingly,” Lacy said. “‘Hollywoof’ was a play on that, and we’re excited to see how creative our participants will get.”
In addition to the fashion show, the evening will feature a dinner catered by the Caribbean Ice Company. Tickets and registration for participation are available on the event’s Facebook page.
The primary goal of the “Hollywoof Doggie Fashion Show” is to raise funds to subsidize the cost of spaying and neutering services for pets in the community. Acadiana Spay Neuter uses the proceeds from events like these to lower the financial barriers for pet owners seeking to access these vital services.
“Our animal shelters in South Louisiana are full, and pets are constantly being euthanized for space,” Lacy said. “We have a serious pet overpopulation issue, and one of the biggest components of the solution to that problem is spaying and neutering. We’re trying to reduce the financial barrier between pet owners and these services, and we can all be a part of the solution in some way.”
Anyone interested in participating in the “Hollywoof Doggie Fashion Show” is encouraged to sign up through the Facebook event page, where tickets are also available for purchase. The event is open to all, and Acadiana Spay Neuter hopes to see a strong turnout from the community to support this worthy cause.
“We truly appreciate the community’s support and hope to see many of you at the show,” Lacy said . “It’s not just about having a great night—it’s about coming together to support an important cause and make a real difference in our community.”
