Hornets take victory lap with state championship ring ceremony

- The Hornets defeated No. 1 seeded Lakeview 50-45 in the 2024 Non-Select Division IV state championship game.
The Franklin Senior High School basketball team got another chance to bask in the glory of a Non-Select Division IV state title last weekend as the team hosted a ring ceremony on Saturday.
The Hornets defeated top-seeded Lakeview, 50-45, to claim the program’s first basketball state title since 1958.
On Saturday, 66 years of waiting for Franklin was finally fulfilled as players, coaches, administrators and staff were honored with state championship rings.
Head coach Tremayne Johnson, who also serves as head football coach for the Hornets, said that the basketball team’s success will provide the school with momentum going into the 2024 football season.
