Arrests made in Breaux Alley shooting

According to the New Iberia Police Department, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the NIPD located and apprehended two wanted individuals at an apartment in the 100 block of Reynolds Street.

Edward King, Jr., 23, and Jacoby J. Johnson, 22, were wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Breaux Alley on April 1, 2024, that left five people injured.

King was also wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on May 12, 2024, in the 1300 block of Jordan Street.

After their arrest, a search warrant was executed at the location where the two were apprehended. During the search, two firearms were located. One of the firearms was reported stolen out of Lafayette, and the other was equipped with a “switch”, a device that illegally modifies a handgun to fire automatically.

King and Johnson were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
