Tyler Blissett, Highland Baptist Cross Country

Junior Tyler Blissett just keeps getting better and better, earning a third-place finish at the 2024 Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola. With a time of 16:20.70, Blissett’s bronze-medal performance in Florida was slightly slower than last year’s time, but the defending Division V state champ will surely continue to improve as the season continues.

Shanga Charles, NISH Football

Charles earned his place on the Athlete of the Week poll with an impressive 216-yard performance against Franklin Senior High on Saturday. Charles, who has 383 yards and two touchdowns so far this season, earned nearly half of his gains after contact, proving once again that it’s hard to slow him down and almost impossible to stop him.

JohnDavid Hidalgo, Catholic High Football

With starting RB Owen Morris out of the Panthers’ Week 2 matchup against Comeaux, Hidalgo knew he would need to put in a shift on offense. With just 12 yards from four carries, Hidalgo might not have earned any college offers for his performance, but two crucial touchdowns, plus 10 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble on defense, helped move CHS to 1-1 on the season.

Silas Johnson, Acadiana Christian Football

Freshman Silas Johnson recorded two tackles, four tackle assists and one tackle for loss as the Lions defeated First Baptist 42-6 on Friday. The win moved ACS to 4-1 on the season ahead of a rematch against John Paul the Great Academy this week.

Rix Robin, Delcambre Football

Sophomore Rix Robin combined for 70 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against Berchmans Academy to help the Panthers secure their first win since Oct. 2022. Robin played QB for Delcambre last season, growing into the position as a freshman. Against Berchmans, he looked comfortable in the pocket and showed glimpses of his deep passing ability.
