IPAC Shelter Pet(s) of the Week – Marzie, Marrie, Claire and Fiona

Big changes are coming to Iberia Parish Animal Control.
Shelter manager Amanda Istre, who will outline more details of her plans in the near future, has rolled out reduced adoption fees for everyone and waived fees for senior citizens and military personnel.
We’ve switched things up a little this week in that cats and dogs are getting equal treatment.
Marzie, a three-year-old Calico, is a talkative cat who loves chin scratches and treats. She was found in an abandoned house with her canine sister, Marrie, who is also up for adoption.
Marrie is a 2.5 year-old lab mix. She and Marzie were apparently left behind by renters who vacated the property. Needless to say, Marrie is cat friendly and is also dog friendly. She is also heartworm negative and loves rolling around in the grass.
Claire, a two-year-old Catahoula Mix, is near and dear to Istre’s heart as she has multiple nicknames, including “Claire-Bear,” “Caire-asaurus,” and Claire the Blue-Eyed Beauty.”
“She has the prettiest eyes,” Istre said. “One is blue, one is brown, and the brown eye is half-blue.”
Claire is great with other dogs and loves going for walks. Adoption fees for dogs are $35-50 dollars and include microchip, spay/neuter, and rabies vaccine. Fees have been reduced to $25 dollars for cats/kittens.
Fiona, another Calico cat, is 1.5 years old. Her favorite pastime, Istre said, is rolling around in her kennel to get the shelter staff’s attention.
“She has the sweetest personality,” Istre said. She is outgoing and vocal and is looking for the PURR-Fect Shrek and Swamp to call her own.”
Edward, one of the shelter’s longest canine residents, was adopted this week.
Please call or visit the shelter on weekdays from 12 PM to 3 PM to meet and adopt. 3373646311. IPAC is located at 2017 Seaway Access Road in New Iberia.
