Loreauville–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Bertha “Perute” B. Theriot, age 85, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Godwin Nzeh as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Bertha “Perute” B. Theriot, age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the LandMark Nursing Care Facility. Known affectionately as “Perute,” she dedicated over 24 years of her life as a custodian at the Iberia Parish School System. She was deeply cherished by her family and community. Bertha was married to her beloved husband Louis for 41 years, and together they raised four children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many. Bertha found joy in life’s simple pleasures, spending time at the casino, passionately supporting Saints Football, and cheering for UL girl softball teams.
Bertha was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. She was the life of the party, known for her happy-go-lucky attitude and her strong work ethic. Above all, Bertha had a “Song in her heart and a dance in her step,” leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
“Perute” is survived by her daughters, Judy Berthelot (Gerald “Buddy”), Trudy Theriot, Roberta “Teetsie” Latiolais (Bryan); one brother, Lewis Boudreaux; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Theriot; five grandchildren, Lacey Theriot, Ashley Girouard, Brittney Case, Lexie Theriot, Jayce Latiolais, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Louis “Jay” Theriot, Sr; her son, Louis “LJ” Theriot, Jr.; infant daughter; her parents, Adler and Yola Latiolais Boudreaux; her 3 siblings, Adler Boudreaux Jr., Gertrude Comeaux, and Helen “Pupe” Miller
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jayce Latiolais, Bryan Latiolais, Daniel Miller, Merlin Theriot, Terry Theriot, Dustin Case, Oran Theriot, and Gerald “Buddy” Berthelot.
Honorary Pallbearer will Jayden Patterson.
