Ella Blake, Highland Baptist Cross Country
Sophomore Ella Blake took home the gold at the District 6-1A cross country meet last week with a school record-setting time of 18:52. Blake is hitting her peak at just the right time as Highland looks to defend its Division V state championship later this month.
Luke Landry, Catholic High Football
Landry continued his run as the area’s top quarterback with a 51-0 thrashing of West St. Mary last week. After adding five additional touchdowns and 247 more passing yards, Landry now sits near the top of the passing leader board for the entire metro area with 1,727 yards and 26 touchdowns. Landry has given up just one interception all season.
Dy’Traevous Lively, Westgate Football
Lively was the spark the Tigers needed to battle back from a 13-6 deficit at the half, scoring twice on the ground and once more off a fumble recovery to help guide Westgate to a 42-28 victory over Northside. Lively is one of the team’s most important senior leaders, an important job given the injury crisis the Tigers are currently facing.
Nave Nguyen, Delcambre Football
Nguyen scored three times in Delcambre’s victory over Houma Christian last week, racking up 168 yards from 21 carries against the Warriors. The freshman will play a crucial role in the Panthers’ Week 10 matchup against Franklin.
Loren Wells, Hanson Memorial Football
Senior RB Loren Wells was unstoppable this week as the Tigers battled the Bears in a rain delayed game that spanned two days. On offense, Wells rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown from 14 carries, adding an additional TD from a 60-yard reception. On defense, Wells ended the game with five tackles and three interceptions for 61 yards and one touchdown.
