Cajun Food Fest returns to Iberia Parish

The Lydia Cancer Association’s Cajun Food Festival is just a few weeks away and plans to bring an exciting weekend to the unincorporated area of Iberia Parish.
The annual event that serves as a fundraiser for the Lydia Cancer Association was originally slated for mid-September but organizers made the decision to postpone the event due to hurricane forecasts at the time.
A variety of dishes that can only be found in Louisiana will be doled out on Nov. 15 and 16 at Weeks Park Road, along with several live musical performances that will be playing throughout the two-day event.
Day one of the event kicks off at 5 p.m. and will feature music from Highway 90 and the Spare Parts Band. The first day of the festival closes at 11 p.m.
The annual cookoff will begin on day two, with teams expected to start prepping at 7:30 a.m.
A car show will start at 9 a.m.
Music from Corney and Friends, Swampland Revival, The Undone Band, The Hands of Time and Seasoned Soul will play throughout the day, and the awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
Nov. 15 with a car show put on by Cruisin Cajun Country starting at 9 a.m. The event is an open car show and all makes and models will be welcomed. Awards for the car show will be given at 4:30 p.m.
The cancer survivor walk, which helps to raise awareness for the main purpose of the event which is raising money for local cancer patients, will take place at 10 a.m.
The event is a fundraiser for the Lydia Cancer Association, which raises funds for cancer patients in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion parishes. The association was officially formed in 2003 when members saw an urgent need for financial assistance to local cancer victims.
It was initially formed by James Frawley Jr., a cancer victim who wanted to help in the cure for cancer and was assisted by the Morton Salt Relay for Life team, according to event information.
