After a long battle with Alzheimer’s home and surrounded by family, Alexandre Bruce “Joe” Mouton, Jr. passed away November 16, 2024. He was born on 19 March 1945, in “God’s Country” Maurice, Louisiana, to Alexandre B. Mouton, Sr. and Lucille Wilkins Mouton. He is preceded in death by his beloved in-laws, Roy and Joyce Indest, his parents, and sisters Petesy M. Hernandez and Lynn M. Spence. He is survived by his wife, his rock and his sunshine of 55 years, Carla Indest Mouton and children Michelle Aimee Mouton, Alexandre Bruce III and Jennifer Mouton, and Jean-Louis and Catherine Mouton. He adored his grandchildren, Amber Mueller, Ashley and Daniel Stegemeyer, Lauren and Adolfo Iglesias, Christopher and Anna Harrison, Andre, Sophie, and Leah Mouton. His great grandchildren Scarlett Stegemeyer, Emilia Iglesias, Harper Harrison, and Maddox Stegemeyer gave him so much pleasure. His extended family Eldridge and Alycee Indest, Johnny and Cathy Indest, Mary K and Teddy Resweber, Joey and Renee Indest, Maria and Craig Brodie and Brent and Tina Indest personified unconditional love along with his 20 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Joe and Carla moved the family to Arkansas in 1985 first on Petit Jean Mountain and then to Hot Springs. Though never losing his love for his beloved south Louisiana, he always talked about how fortunate we were to live here. His kindness, warmth, and playful sense of humor aided in his success in his many years of automobile service and home health care where he received numerous rewards for innovation and salesmanship. If you knew Joe, there was no question that he LOVED his family which is where he found his greatest comfort and happiness. He took such joy in playing with the children for whom he usually gave nicknames. At the end, while he recognized very little, he did lovingly react to his great granddaughters. Sunday night family dinners will not be the same without him. He and Carla enjoyed road trips with no real destination in mind. After extensive discussions as to how to celebrate, they spent their 50th anniversary fishing on the White River.
A Celebration of Life, officiated by Fr. Mark Nabors, will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 111 Spring Street, Hot Springs AR on Saturday 30 November 2024 at 1:00pm with a reception following in the Parish Hall. Scriptural selections will be read by Lauren Iglesias, Christopher Harrison, Eldridge Indest, Mary K Resweber and goddaughter, Christine McCory with gifts offered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ushers will be Margaret White, Sally Carder, Terry Lawler and Tiffany Rogers. Music will be provided by Charlie Rigsby and the St. Luke’s choir.
The family is particularly grateful for The Caring Place, Oaklawn Center on Aging, Elite Home Health, Elite Hospice, Kay Davis, Dr. Greg Whorton and Dr. James Davis. He was blessed to spend his final days in the home of his children Alex, Jen and Andre. With Michelle up the street, he was able to spend more time with his “Punkin”. True to his nature, Joe will impatiently wait for Carla in an urn created and built by his son, Jean.
There are no words to adequately thank all of our friends for their prayers, love and support throughout his illness. You are true blessings to all of us.
