Students at North Lewis Elementary School’s French Immersion Program and their families were recently invited to participate in a French cuisine cooking class at the school’s cafeteria.

In the packed room, families arrived with their ingredients, cooking materials and utensils ready to make a classic French staple: crepes. Of course, the activity was also designed to help students practice French vocabulary and learn about French culture.

Ebrar Reaux said the activity was organized by several French teachers, including Nicholas Thuillier and Gwen Jaubert Richard, who instructed parents to follow a recipe requiring du lait (milk), de la farine (flour), des ouefs (eggs), du beurre (butter), du sucre (sugar) and de extrait de vanille (vanilla extract).

The teachers guided the students in preparing their “crepe mix” and offered tips to ensure that the mix would result in a perfect crepe.

“Les Amis would like to thank our French Immersion parents for taking the time to provide their families with this very fun and most memorable experience for their children and families,” Reaux said. “Vive la Crepe!”
