Marianne Blair, aged 80, passed away peacefully, October 23, 2024, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 6, 1944, in New Orleans, LA, Marianne was raised in New Iberia, where she graduated from New Iberia High School. She went on to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. A devoted mother, Marianne raised her four children while living across the country and abroad, from California and Texas to Barbados and Alabama, finally settling in Mississippi. There, she pursued her passion for nursing, completing her training and becoming a registered nurse—a career she was immensely proud of—serving veterans at the VA hospital in Jackson, MS. Marianne was a dedicated Catholic with a deep love for the Lord, finding comfort and strength in her faith throughout her life. She was also an avid traveler, exploring the world whenever she could, and she held a special love for Elvis Presley’s music. Above all, she cherished her family and was incredibly proud of her children and nine beautiful grandchildren. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Sue Blair of New Iberia, LA, and her younger brother, Keith Blair. She is survived by her brother Marion Blair (Deloris), her sisters April Carlson (Bruce) and Nancy Vial (Robert), her children Michael Pawlik (Jamie), Debbie Hanson (Drew), Jeff Pawlik (Liz), and Suzy Colbert (Matt), and her beloved grandchildren: Emily, Hayden, Joseph, George, Benjamin, Henry, Daniel, David, and Kennedy. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. followed by a celebration of Marianne’s life on Friday, November 29, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. A gathering and prayer will follow on Saturday, November 30, at 12:30 pm at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Iberia, LA.
