Harold “Zoddeco” P. LeBlanc, 87, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Landmark Nursing Home. A dedicated employee of Cargil Salt Mining Company for 40 years in Avery Island, Louisiana, Zoddeco served as a Mine Rescue Member, earning a place in the Hall of Fame for his exceptional contributions. Known for his infectious humor, he delighted those around him with his signature “Boudreaux and Thibodeaux” jokes. In his earlier years, Zoddeco enjoyed tending his vegetable garden and working with cattle. His love for music and dancing was matched by his appreciation for a cold Falstaff beer. A passionate LSU football fan since 1958, he proudly held season tickets and even constructed his own LSU-themed barbecue pit, combining his love for BBQ and the Tigers.
While Zoddeco was in high school, he was an athlete excelling in not only boxing, he was also the Captain of the New Iberia High School football team. Zoddeco’s family meant everything to him, and he treasured the time spent with them around the BBQ pit. He was a regular at his favorite spots, White Oak and the Lazy Lounge, where he and his friends solved the world’s problems over good conversation and laughter. With a life defined by humor, hard work, and deep connections, Harold “Zoddeco” P. LeBlanc will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of joy and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
