There was a packed house at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Sunday afternoon as the Iberia Cultural Resources Association put on its annual Sounds of the Season concert at the church.
“We’re thrilled that so many people chose to be with us again,” organizer Cathy Indest said at the event.
The completely free event brings in the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra to New Iberia, where the professional orchestra plays a mixture of classical and holiday music to get event-goers in the Christmas spirit just a few weeks out from the holiday itself.
The event is funded thanks to the support of patrons of the Iberia Cultural Resources Association, who donate to provide a total of four free concerts to Iberia Parish each year thanks to their generosity.
The event is also hosted on KANE radio for folks who may want to attend the event but are unable to attend.
A surprise visit from Santa Claus was also in store for the younger people in the audience, as he made an appearance near the end of the program.
