Two Teche Area residents were honored by the City of Franklin and even given the key to the city thanks to their life-saving efforts after finding an unconscious man in his vehicle on Bud Street.
Raymond “Rocky” Ballet and Tanya Grogan, Ballet’s sister-in-law, were given certificates of appreciation for helping a stranger in need who could very well have lost his life had the pair not been there.
Along with Mayor Eugene Foulcard, members of the Franklin City Council, Franklin Police Department and Franklin Fire Department were present at City Hall’s council chambers with friends and family of Ballet, Grogan and Ali Aaron, the victim of the crash who is currently hospitalized at a local facility.
“We’re extremely grateful for this occasion to recognize two citizens from the City of Franklin,” Mayor Eugene Foulcard said. “We’re very honored and blessed to do this.”
Ballet, who performed CPR on Aaron, said he had never performed CPR on a person, but gained confidence thanks to his sister-in-law being certified.
“I want to think every person would have that in their heart to do,” Ballet said.
Family members said Aaron is still hospitalized and in severe condition, but many are praying for his full recovery.
