An ACEL state championship and two LHSAA quarterfinal appearances highlight a successful volleyball season in the Teche Area.
Acadiana Christian School clinched its first-ever state volleyball title after ending the regular season undefeated, a testament to the hard work put in by both the players and athletic director/head volleyball coach Brigette Boudreaux. The Lady Lions defeated CHS Northeast in straight sets (25-20, 25-7, 25-16) in the team’s second appearance in the ACEL final.
Just a few miles West down Admiral Doyle Dr. lies another one of the Teche Area’s best volleyball programs. The Catholic High School Lady Panthers ended the regular season with a 27-13 record, entering the Division IV playoffs as the No. 6 seed and advancing to the quarterfinals before falling in straight sets to eventual state champions Northlake Christian.
Joining CHS at the state volleyball tournament this year was Episcopal School of Acadiana. After a rocky start to the season, the Lady Falcons settled into a routine, entering the playoffs as the No. 9 seed with a 19-21 record before defeating Sacred Heart (3-0) and Covenant Christian (3-1). ESA was defeated in straight sets by Metairie Park Country Day en route to their 10th-consecutive Division V state title.
