The West End Council of Neighborhood Associations and City of New Iberia’s Recreation Department are putting on a special event to honor black excellence in the community this Saturday.

“Celebrating Black Excellence” will take place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at West End Park from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., where members of the community will be awarded. Attendees were encouraged this past month to submit biographies for people who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community, and presentations will be given along with awards at the event.

Red, black and green attire and African attire is required for the event, and tickets are $25 per person or $200 per table.
