The New Iberia Police Department were shown appreciation by several organizations for Valentine’s Day who gifted local law enforcement with all kinds of Valentine’s Day goodies for the holiday.
The second annual Valentine’s Day Candy Gram was put on by New Iberia’s Lady Ambassadors of Ask the Ambassadors Ministry, with help from Iberia Medical Center, Super One Foods, Raising Cane’s and Chase Bank.
Other organizations included King of Glory Tabernacle, Rise and Shine Prayer and Inspirational Hour, Virtuous WOmen’s Outreach International, the WDW Foundation, T.H.I.S. (The Heavenly Inspired Solution) and Available to the Call Ministry.
The volunteers took to the NIPD’s breakroom and laid the area out with Valentine’s Day cookies, candy and even a cake thanking the police department for their service and hard work to the community.
“We wanted to express our heartfelt thanks for their service and sacrifice,” organizer Sherry Guidry said. “By sharing treats and kind words, along with the Word of God, we aim to show them that their hard work does not go unnoticed and that we truly appreciate our gate keepers. Today was about making them feel valued.”
The volunteers present prayed alongside NIPD officers and showed them the huge amounts of food that they could munch on during the weekend.
Guidry, who was a New Iberia City Councilwoman when the New Iberia was created several years ago, said her organization also strives to bridge the gap between the community and local leaders, which includes the Ask the Ambassadors Community Media Hub, a platform where community members can engage with ambassadors, experts and thought leaders to facilitate meaningful dialogue.
The Lady Ambassadors is in its second year and aims to inspire community members to take an active role in local affairs, with Guidry saying she has already discipled 45 to 50 local women in the project.
Capt. Leland Laseter with the NIPD said the department was very thankful for the gifts from the organizers.
“We’re grateful for the support and generosity from these organizations,” Laseter said. “The support of the community and organizations like these is what makes the NIPD successful.
