A former resident of Jeanerette, Ronald “Skipper” LeBlanc, 78 passed away suddenly on February 16 at his farm in Meyersville, Texas.  He was born in San Bernardino, California on March 23,  1946.

A hardy individualist with a keen mind and dauntless spirit, Skipper accepted many challenges and Opportunities during his lifetime .

Upon graduation from college, he taught in high school followed by a long period as a tennis instructor at New Iberia’s country club.  Additionally, he was also a skilled pilot.  But on a trip to rural south Texas he acquired some land and houses and began to renovate the property.  This is where the cowboy within him took root.

Skipper loved the area and the countryfolk that he encountered during many decades there.  In spite of being an occasional rascal, his smile was contagious and his firm handshake had the guarantee of sincerity behind it.

The trail dust has settled.  The barn doors are shut.  And even though Skipper has taken his final ride, those of us who knew him and loved him have no doubt whatsoever that he now sleeps in the Almighty’s eternal embrace.

Skipper was preceded in death by his parents Alex and May LeBlanc.  He is survived by His beautiful Carol for 15 wonderful years.  His daughters; Stephanie (Dave) Jill, and Katie.  His four grandchildren;  Dylan, Michael, Santos and Ruby.
