Jeanerette– Funeral services will be conducted for Marylane “MiMi”: Bonin, 78, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Frioux-David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Russell Hayes officiating. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre’ Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home before the service at 11:00 a.m.
A resident of Jeanerette, Marylane “MiMi” Buras Bonin passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at her residence in Jeanerette.
Marylane “MiMi” Bonin, beloved for her devotion to family and community, peacefully passed surrounded by love. She is remembered for her deep love for her children and grandchildren, often spending cherished moments coloring with them as they grew. For over 30 years, she dedicated her career as a paraprofessional in the Iberia Parish School System, where she touched many lives and held a special place in her heart for the children under her care. MiMi was also known for her passion for sports, excelling as a coach in basketball, tennis, and softball. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and New Year, where she brought joy to her family by hosting gatherings and preparing delicious meals. She was a warm-hearted woman who never met a stranger, known throughout her community for her volunteer work and deep-rooted support for Jeanerette High School, where she proudly bled purple and gold.
“MiMi” is survived by her husband and the love of her life for 60 years, Norbert Bonin; children, Jared Bonin, Natalie Strubb (Lance); grandchildren, Tyler McElfresh, Brandon Bonin (Fiancé Abby Buteau), Zachary Bonin, Asa Strubb, Bella Strubb; great grandchild, Levi Beach; brother, Charlie Buras (Jeanette); daughter-in-law, Dawn Bonin; sister-in-law, Peggy Fitch; brother-in-law, Keith LeBlanc; godchildren, Stephanie LeJeune, Shayde LeBlanc, and Brette Fitch.
She was preceded in death by her son, Travis Bonin; her parents, August, and Mabel Turlich Buras, and five siblings, Gloria, Harold, Beverly, Shirley, Barbara; brothers-in-law, Mike Fitch, Bobby Bonin, Sr., and sisters-in-law, Judy LeBlanc, and Bernice Bonin.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jared Bonin, Lance Strubb, Brandon Bonin, Zachary Bonin, Ryan Fitch, and Tyler McElfresh.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Skyler Fitch, Shayde LeBlanc, and Keith LeBlanc.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice for the kindness they have shared with the family during this difficult time. A very special thanks to Mel and Julie, and caregiver, Dodie.
