Why is the Teche Area important to you?

The Teche Area isn’t just where I’m from—it’s a part of who I am. I grew up in Charenton, LA, with Bayou Teche quite literally in my backyard. My dad was a lifelong sugarcane farmer, my mom founded the school I attended and was deeply involved in our community, and my grandparents owned a Case IH tractor dealership in Jeanerette. Every aspect of my childhood was deeply rooted in the Teche Area—its people, industries, and traditions.

Today, I continue that legacy through my career at Metal Shark Boats, where I’ve spent the last twelve years working for a company built on generations of craftsmanship and innovation by the Gravois family. Through my work, I’ve met people from all over the country (and beyond!), and I can confidently say that there’s nowhere in the world quite like Acadiana. It’s a privilege to raise my own children here, giving them the same sense of community and culture that shaped me.

What do you do for fun?

For me, fun is all about bringing people together and making things happen. Whether it’s helping a friend plan a party, organizing events with the New Iberia Optimist Club, or just lending a hand wherever I’m needed, I genuinely enjoy creating experiences that bring joy to others.

What are your hobbies?

Planning! If there’s an event happening—at work, with family, or among friends—I’m usually the one behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly. My friends know me as the go-to planner, whether it’s a wedding, a birthday party, or a weekend getaway. I love the challenge of organizing something from start to finish and seeing it all come to life.

Who are your role models?

Without question, my parents. They’ve built incredible careers, made a lasting impact on our community, and—most importantly—gave my siblings and me a childhood filled with love, guidance, and opportunity. They’ve set the bar high, and I strive every day to be the kind of parent, leader, and person they’ve shown me how to be.

What are some of your plans or goals?

My biggest goal is to find balance—continuing to grow in my career while being present and involved in my kids’ lives. I want to set the same example for them that my parents set for me: work hard, give back to your community, and always make time for the people who matter most.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that you can only control yourself—your choices, your actions, and how you react to the things around you. Everything else is out of your hands, and it’s not worth losing sleep over. Also, kindness costs nothing. Whether you agree with someone or not, always lead with respect and a smile. You never know how much of a difference that small gesture might make in someone’s day.
