The Iberia Parish School Board will vote to adopt the millage rates for the 2026 fiscal year at Wednesday’s meeting.

According to agenda information, the board will choose to keep the same rates for the three property taxes that are governed by the board. The Constitutional Millage will be set at 4.30 mills, the Maintenance and Operations Millage at 6.15 mills and the Retirement Bond at 25 mills.

The decision to now roll the rates forward or back came after discussions with the school board’s bond council and reviewing the financial needs of the school district.

In other business, the board will consider a recommendation to use Child Nutrition Program funds for the allowable expenditure of one-time stipends for qualified CNP employees to maintain the system’s workforce.

The agenda item comes after the Child Nutrition Department has achieved a net positive balance due to “diligent awareness and adequate staffing practices,” according to the agenda. The request from the department is to offer a one-time stipend to full-time employees, since the department is required to spend any funds that exceed an allowable three-month operational expense amount.

If approved, the stipend will be based on attendance, timely completion and USDA training and years of service. If approved, employees will get $500 for employee attendance, $400 for USDA training and $100 for every five years of service.

The total maximum cost if all employees meet all criteria would be roughly $210,000.

The school board will also open the received bids for Phase II of the new Anderson School Project. Once opened, the board will make a decision at a future date to accept a bid for the project, which effectively relocates the location of Anderson Middle School to the former site of Sugarland Elementary.
