Mr. & Mrs. John Matthew Stockstill

Brittany Nicole Powell and John Matthew Stockstill were joined together in marriage Saturday, October 7, 2017, in front of family and friends at Marlboro Original Free Will Baptist Church in Farmville, North Carolina. The Reverend Calvin Craft officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Powell of Farmville, North Carolina and is the granddaughter of Mr. Jack Powell of Enterprise, Alabama, and Ms. Connie Powell of Farmville, North Carolina, and Mrs. Nancy Eastwood of Walstonburg, North Carolina, and the late George Eastwood.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Wesley Stockstill of Alpharetta, Georgia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Napoli, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stockstill, all formerly of New Iberia.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an A-line wedding dress crowned with an illusion scoop neckline set amid lacy cap sleeves. The cutout back laced-up tapering the sweetheart bodice into a belted waist. Lace appliques richly embellished the bodice then scattered thinly around the skirt before converging on the scalloped hem. Draped throughout in lace-applique tulle, this magnificent gown finishes grandly with a cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of orange crush roses, calla lilies, hypericum red berries, sunflowers, blue thistle, and safari sunset flowers. The bride’s late grandfather’s wedding band was tied to the bouquet.

Bridesmaids were Jamie Charles and Elizabeth Stockstill, sister of the groom. Best man was John W. Stockstill, father of the groom. Paul Arena was a groomsman.

A reception was held at the Marlboro Original Free Will Baptist Church Family Life Center. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s family at Greenville Country Club. A bridal shower was hosted by family and friends of the bride at Marlboro Original Free Will Baptist Church.

The bride graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Campbell University in 2011 and a Master of Science in Accounting from East Carolina University in 2012. She is employed as an accountant with East Carolina University in the Athletics Department and The Pirate Club.

The groom graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management with a minor in Information Systems from Georgia College & State University in 2004, a Master of Science in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University in 2008, and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University in 2011. He is employed as an Electronic Health Records Trainer with ECU Brody School of Medicine/ECU Physicians.

The couple honeymooned in Black Mountain, North Carolina and will reside in Farmville, North Carolina.
