Irene “Rico/Frank” Bartley

A Home-going celebration will be held for Mrs. Irene “Rico/Frank” Bartley, 49, the former Irene Shelton, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Randall Sr. officiating.

She will await the resurrection at Saint Matthew Cemetery in New Iberia.

A gathering of family and friends will begin on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.

A native and resident of New Iberia, she passed away at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at her residence.

Irene, who was lovingly known as “Rico/Frank”, leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Peter Bartley of Lake Charles; four sons Antonio Shelton (Kirsten Austin), Arlando Shelton (Verrisia Henry) and Arlanzo Shelton, all of New Iberia and Ananieze Shelton of Spangdahlem AF Base, Germany; one daughter Annissa Bartley (Quincy Alexander); three sisters Linda Gerac (Wilkie Sr.), Mary Alice Jones and Louise Ann Pomier (Elvin), all of New Iberia; three godchildren Burt Etienne, Anastasia Gerac and Wilkie Gerac Jr.; and longtime friend Dickie Vickers of Lake Charles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Shelton and Mary Wiltz Shelton; a brother Neil Shelton; a sister Helen Shelton; maternal grandparents, Renny Wiltz and Lillian Johnson; and paternal grandparents, Albert and Doris Shelton.

Active pallbearers will be Raheem Eabair, Ananieze Shelton, Wilkie Gerac Sr., Wilkie Gerac Jr., Arlando Shelton and Antonio Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arlanzo Shelton, Quincy Alexander, Elvin Pomier Jr., Raymond Thibodeaux, Henry Harris and Dickie Vickers.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home, 609 W. Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.
