JEANERETTE—A Home-going celebration will be held for Louis “Chip” Harding, 77, at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fondal Sr. officiating.
He will await the resurrection in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Petit Anse.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 a.m. until time of service.
A resident of Jeanerette, he passed away at 2 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his residence.
Chip began his career as a technician at Morton Salt. For over 40 years, Chip was the owner/operator of Chip’s Wrecker Service & Mechanic. In addition, he was employed by the Iberia Parish School Board as a bus driver for 30 years.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory, his wife of 45 years, Linda Delahoussaye Harding of Jeanerette; three daughters, Debbie Gage of Jeanerette, Wanda Channette of New Iberia and Sheena Harding of Dallas; two sisters, Carolyn Harding Mitchell of Jeanerette and Sedonia Belton of Beaumont, Texas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two close friends, Barry Wiles and John Henry Wiles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Harding Sr. and Hazel Williams Harding; three brothers, Lionel Harding Jr., Wilbur Roy Harding and William Harding; and two sisters, Pastor Sandra Nerve and Shirley A. King.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home, 609 West Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.
