George Shello began life on July 1, 1937. He was born in Avery Island to the late Avnel Shello and Amanda Broussard Shello of New Iberia.
On December 5, 2017, George was called home to be with the Lord.
Upon moving to Houston, George became a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, a member of St. Gregory the Great and a current member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 06826. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad for 36 years until his retirement.
George met and later married Carol A. Boutte in 1961. George was a devoted and loving husband, father and affectionately known as “PaPa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his wife of 56 years, Carol Boutte Shello; two daughters Gala V. Geegan (Chris) of Houston and Helen “Dee” Broussard of Humble, Texas; one son Wendell A. Shello (Danyelle) of Houston; three sisters Ruth Shello, Dianna Jacobs and Patricia Shello, all of New Iberia; six sixters-in-law Lorraine Pradier, Brenda Walker (Sammie), Rita Arlene Jolivet (Harold), all of Houston, Sharon Drexler (Steven) of New Iberia, Loretta Brimmer (Freddie Charles) and Claudette Jackson (Charlie of New Orleans; six brothers-in-law James Boutte of Carriere, Mississippi, Jude Kern Boutte (Brenda) of New Orleans, Paul Dwight Boutte, Lester White of New Iberia, Peter Clyde Boutte (Carolyn) of Houston and Edward Malcolm Boutte of Akron, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one godson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Harvey Shello and John Horace Shello; two sisters Ethel S. Washington and Virgie S. White; one brother-in-law Brindley Boutte; and two sisters-in-law Alnetta Shello and Mary “Chummie” Shello.
