Gerard Eddie Broussard Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Gerard Eddie “Shorty” Broussard Sr., 68, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Vu as celebrant.

He will await the resurrection in Saint Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m.

A native and resident of Olivier, he entered eternal rest at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.

He accepted Christ as at an early age and is a member of Saint Edward/St. Jude Catholic Church Parish. In addition, he retired from McDermot.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four sons Gerard Eddie “Ja-June” Broussard Jr. (Crystal) of Rosharon, Texas, Kenrard “Kenny” Broussard  (Chiffonia) of Youngsville, Elliott Allen (Anrika) and Cedric Allen of Jeanerette; two sisters Betty T. Broussard of Monroe and Aline B. Vincent of Olivier; two brothers—his twin, Gerald Broussard Sr. (Brenda) of Jeanerette and Charles Broussard Sr. (Brenda) of San Jose, California; a special friend Denise Vital of New Iberia, ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester James Broussard and Myrtle Olivier Broussard; one son Carlos Broussard; and one sister Verlie B. Fontenette.

Active pallbearers will be Gerard Eddie “Ja-June” Broussard Jr., Kenrard “Kenny” Broussard, Elliott Allen, Cedric Allen, Brian Mitchell and Derick Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Broussard Sr., Gerald Broussard Sr., Gerald Broussard Jr., Lloyd Smith, Alfred Archon, Ted Williams, Melvin Jeanlouis, Larry Trahan, Joe Coleman, Shelton Polite, Malcolm Boutte, Wilbert “Billy” Hector Jr., Oliver Shaw, Oswald Rollins, Joseph “Mickey” Broussard, Bruce and J.C. Milton.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home, 609 West Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560.
