SMSH ends skid with 1st district win

ST. MARTINVILLE — Jayvion Mitchell had 27 points, including four 3-pointers, and St. Martinville ended a four-game losing skid with its first District 5-4A win of the year in beating Livonia 59-52 Wednesday.
Treyvon Marshall added 14 points and Demontae Gardner chipped in 13 for the Tigers, who held a 3- point lead at halftime but pulled away in the second half.
Jeremy Richard led Livonia (16-4 overall, 1-2 district) with a game-high 29 points.
SMSH (11-15, 1-2) plays host to Beau Chene Friday.
Franklin 69, Jeanerette 57
FRANKLIN — Jabari Daye had 14 points and led a trio of Franklin players in double-figures as the Hornets beat Jeanerette Wednesday in a District 7-2A game.
Brayden Ward had 13 points and Travis Zeno added 10 for the Hornets, who shot 54 free throws against Jeanerette in a game that was postponed due to icy conditions last week.
Todderick Paul led Jeanerette with 17 points and Devin Allen finished with 11 for the Tigers.
Franklin (9-13 overall, 5-3 district), winners of two straight, travel to West St. Mary Friday.
Jeanerette (8-16, 4-2) travels to Loreauville Friday.
