Delcambre’s Krewe de Mystical Waters’ 19th annual bal masque was held Jan. 27 at the Wyndham Garden Inn Hotel in Lafayette. The night was filled with fun, festivity, and great entertainment as this year’s royalty presented the “Power” show with Brian Campbell serving as ceremony emcee.
Campbell recognized honored guests in attendance for the evening. In addition, Krewe founders Gerard and Rhonda Vincent were present in the audience. The krewe’s president, Glenn Crappell, and board members Monica Shiner, Mandy LeBlanc and Donna and Christian Lancon, were commended for their support and dedication in the continued success of the krewe and its ball.
Guests entering the ballroom were taken into a world filled with action and suspension in a room filled with hidden identities. The 44 cast members in the production entertained with the theme, “Power.” Court members performed dressed as various Superheroes, villains and criminals. In addition, everyday heroes, such as police officers and firefighters were present thought-out the show. Reporting the latest news happening throughout Gotham City was K-Pow, Channel 18, news reporters.
King Krewe de Mystical Waters the 19th, Ken Schexnayder, and Queen, Jamie Schexnayder have been married for 11 years. Ken was born and raised in Delcmabre where he graduated from Delcambre High School. Ken has been employed with Iberia Parish School Board for 23 years. Jamie was raised in Broussard graduating from Comeaux High School. She is self-employed. Together, Ken and Jamie have six children, Riley, Saige, Sieghan, Broc-Lauryn, Maggie and Chace.
The King entertained the crowd as Captain America with his fellow heroes Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Spiderman, Superman, Batman and Robin. Even though Black Widow and Wonder Woman had a little confrontation over the leading hero, it was quickly resolved as soon as the girls came together to “Run the World”.
Unfortunately, K-Pow reporters interrupted the show to report that the usual suspects — Joker, Poison Ivy and Harely Quinn — stole the crowns needed for the Young Ambassador’s presentation. Thankfully, Spiderman and Superman were just “One Call Away” and retrieved the crowns so the show could go on with the presentation of the Young Ambassadors, which included Cayman Crappell, Emily Delcambre, Kristopher LeBlanc, Saige LeBlanc, Monty Rogers, Riley Schexnayder and Alyssa Theriot.

After Wonder Woman’s boots were mysteriously stolen she had to once again call on the Superheroes to assist in rescuing her beloved boots. Even though the other heroes tried, the hero saving the night was Captain America. This heroic event called for the reuniting of their entire family in “We are Family”.
The excitement was short lived as the K-Pow reporters were once again interrupting the show due to things “Burning Up” throughout the city. The firemen were needed to put the fires out.
This led into the fight between Thor, Iron Man and Hulk having to fight off the criminals as the police tried to keep order throughout the city as the reporters continually reported live from the scene.
The production wrapped up with Batman and Robin capturing Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Even though the Joker escaped, the crowd knew “Who’s Bad”. In the end, the Superheroes came together one last time because “All We Do Is Win”.
