Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2018, for Mr. Ira Phelix LeFevre, 75, at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church located at 130 Richelleu Circle with Fr. Mario Romero officiating. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery located at 2807 Curtis Lane.
Visitation will begin on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at David Funeral Home located at 1101 Trotter Street and will resume on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 8 a.m. until the time of service. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 7 p.m.
Ira began working at an early age in life. Family members shared thoughts and memories of Ira working at odd jobs all of his young life. A hard work ethic followed him throughout his work life in the oil and gas industry as a welder, which made him an excellent employee and leader as a supervisor on his job sites.
Ira is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Romero LeFevre; and nine children, Pamela Jennings and husband, Bruce, Elza Lynn LeFevre and wife, Louise, Pamala Marcum, Keith Laws, Julie Barras and husband, Troy, Sheila Velvin and husband, Jay, Arlene Wharton and husband, Heath, Shelly LeFevre and Frederick Matthew LeFevre; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nelda Guidry and husband, Lee and Barbara Knight and husband, Courtland; in-laws Betty Romero, Rosa Mae Dewveall, Regina Dehart and husband, Wayne, Frederick Romero Jr. and wife, Phyllis, Sylvia St. Germain and husband, Bob and Nancy Dayton.
His hobbies included playing guitar, singing, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. Everyone at the nursing home knew him for rolling around in his wheelchair, going to mass, watching his westerns and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza Chester and Olivia Arlene Ross LeFevre; sister, Reba Hooper and husband, Don; in-laws Frederick Romero Sr., Lorraine Derouen Romero, Dianna Leblanc, Dunis Leblanc, Bill Dewveall and Patsy Romero.
Serving as pallbearers will be Elza Lynn LeFevre, Frederick Matthew LeFevre, Levi LeFevre, John Wesley Vaughan, Frederick Romero and Haidan LeFevre.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Troy Barras.
