Chitimacha Police Department makes arrest in vehicle theft case

The Chitimacha Police Department recently made an arrest in a stolen vehicle case.

In a release by CPD Chief Hal Hutchinson, on Sunday, Feb. 18, a Chitimacha Police Department officer responded to a complaint at a tribal residence in reference to a Ford truck that was stolen from the premises.  

During the course of the investigation, officers were provided information that led to the person who had stolen the vehicle and others who occupied the vehicle. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the person who stole the vehicle. The Chitimacha Police Department, with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, located the subject at his residence and the following was arrested:

On Thursday, Feb. 22, Curley Carter III, 17, Martin Luther King Road, Charenton, was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle.  He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration.

The investigation is still ongoing and will lead to further arrests in the near future.
