Area women faces drug charges after traffic stop

FRANKLIN — A St. Mary Parish woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute Monday night.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lt. Traci Landry, the SMSO K-9 Unit was conducting interdiction work around 8:30 p.m. on U.S. 90 when a vehicle was spotted driving on the shoulder of the roadway.
The narcotics detective conducted a traffic stop and identified 37-year-old Rebecca Concienne of Bayou L’Ourse as the driver, the report said. While speaking with her, the detective learned that Concienne was in possession of illegal drugs, according to Landry.
Rebecca Concienne, 37, 104 Andras St., Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Saturday for possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute (over 28 grams), possession of Schedule I (LSD) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The detective received consent to search and located several bags of methamphetamine, a bag containing three pieces of LSD and a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in Concienne’s purse, Landry said.
The detective also found evidence that the methamphetamine was being transported from Houston, and that Concienne planned to sell the drugs, Landry said. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of over $6,000, she said.
Concienne was arrested for for possession of schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute (more than 28 grams), possession of schedule I (LSD) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Concienne was taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.
