Early voting ended Saturday night with Teche Area voters submitting nearly 2,000 votes for the upcoming March 24 election in St. Martin and St. Mary parishes.

St. Martin Parish Registrar of Voters Angie Durand said the parish garnered a cumulative total of 931 in-person votes and 250 absentee votes.

That includes voters in St. Martinville, where municipal elections are taking place for mayor and City Council next week.

Durand said the Stephensville registrar office was not included because there are no elections in that area of the parish this year.

On the last day of voting, Durand said the office received 146 in-person votes and five mail votes.

In St. Mary Parish, Registrar Jolene Holcomb said the final tally was 1,056 votes, mail and in-person votes included. Several municipalities including Franklin will be having elections in St. Mary on March 24.

Holcomb also said there were 135 in-person votes and one mail vote by the end of Saturday.
