Extraordinary Kids
As the daughter of an educator, the Bright From The Start section has a special place in my heart. My mother always excitedly shares stories with me about the exceptional students she encounters. Every April, as I work on the May issue, it’s my turn to tell her stories about the amazing kids I have the good luck to get to know. I’m just as excited for all of you to read about them. During a time when young people are getting a lot of negative press, it feels good to see these seven honorees breaking those stereotypes. Head to Page 35 to meet Alex Little, Aryton Little, Dailee Johnson, Elise Hebert, Harrison Schexnayder, Parker McDonald and Sophia Brazda.
There’s lot to love about this issue. While it is our “Parenting” issue, complete with a parenting section and stories about extraordinary children, it serves as a positive reflection of the community whether you’re a parent or not. One shinning example of this is found in the Curtis Davis story. The way New Iberia and the surrounding communities rallied around this young boy and his family after he suffered life-threatening injuries is astounding. It’s a heartwarming story that will restore any bit of faith you may have lost.
