The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was shot Thursday morning. 

Sgt. Stephen Guidry with the IPSO said the homicide occurred at 8:57 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Edna Street in New Iberia. Deputies were dispatched after receiving a report and upon arrival they found the body of 22-year-old Tylon Kerlega of New Iberia on the ground in the front yard of an abandoned home.

Guidry said the case is being investigated as a homicide.
