JEANERETTE — A celebration of life Memorial service for Darlene Owens, 60, will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. at David Funeral Home, 400 Provost Street, Jeanerette, with Pastor Valerie Rhine, pastor of New Beginnings Word of Faith and Elder Leonard Rhine officiating.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of celebration at the funeral home.

Darlene passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at a local nursing facility as she bravely battled many health issues. Her first love was the time she had with her grandchildren and loved working with crafts, especially the time crocheting. She made many hand crafted designs for the children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Steve Owens Sr., of Erath; two sons Steve Owens Jr. of Jeanerette and William Owens and his friend Peggy Miguez of New Iberia; two daughters Evelina Melancon and husband, Ross, of Erath and Ashley Lafont and husband, Ryan, of Jeanerette; three brothers Wallace Gary and wife, Faith, of Kaplan, Wilfred Gary Sr. and wife, Angela, of New Iberia and Michael and wife, Bonnie Gary; sister Suzanne Romero and husband, Paul, of New Iberia; a special niece who went everywhere with her Jamie Buteau and husband, Andrew, of Jeanerette; eight grandchildren Tristen Owens, Sharon Owens, Blair Owens, Skyler LaFont, Zane Melancon, Ramsey LaFont, Eve Malancon and Kayson Owens; and many dear friends who will greatly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lou Segura Gary and Joseph Gary; brother William Gary; grandson Nicholas Frederick; and stepfather John LeBlanc.
