Sandra Elaine Youman-Rideaux

A Homegoing Celebration for Sandra Elaine Youman-Rideaux, 67, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Zion Hill Christian Fellowship, 626 West Main Street, New Iberia. Bishop Daren Sophus, Pastor Officiating.

Sandra’s earthly vessel will be laid to rest in Holy Family Mausoleum in New Iberia.

Visitation will commence at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the church and will conclude at the time of services.

Sandra was born on Thursday, May 18, 1950, to Joean Carroll and the late Junius Raymond in Lafayette. She was a 1968 graduate of Jonas Henderson High School. Following graduation, her career in the retail grocery industry began at Krogers . Following their closing, she went on to work at Jeanerette Mills. In 1994, she was hired as a cashier at Fremin’s Food and Furniture. She later was promoted to an Office Clerk, where she worked untiringly until her passing. Sandra was blessed with two children from a previous marriage. In November, 1987, she met with John Batiste Rideaux and they were later married on April 19, 1997.

Sandra accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by the late Dr. C.V. Jackson at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she served for many years. In 2002, she united with Zion Hill Christian Fellowship where she served faithfully and was dedicated to the vision of Bishop Darren Sophus.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a sister Verona  Raymond; a brother Milton Moore Jr.; step-father, Wallace Smith and a son Erris Rideaux. Sandra transcended from labor to reward suddenly on Sunday, April 29, 2018, in New Iberia, where she was a lifelong resident. “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” Phil 1:21

Sandra leaves embracing the hearts of her family who include, her husband, John Batiste Rideaux, New Iberia; her mother, Joean Carroll Smith, New Iberia; her 11 children Van Ray (Renee) Alexander, Sacramento, California, Valorie (Wilson Jr.) Charles, LaPlace; Melissa (Alfred) Pierre, Terrytown, Thaddeus (Janice) Rideaux of Lake Charles, Malfreda (Darrell) Crosby, Jeanerette, Mark Rideaux and Melinda Rideaux, both of  Houston, Texas, Marci (Phillip) Guillory, Lake Charles, John Rideaux of Metairie, Phil (Joyce) Rideaux, Baton Rouge and Alonzo Rideaux, New Iberia; seven siblings Carl Michael (Rachel) Moore, Sheral Iles, Gayle Hamilton and Edward Barrideaux, all of New Iberia, Lavon (Mario) Johnson, Baton Rouge, and Carlos (Lydia) Barrideaux and Lisa Raymond, both of Port Arthur, Texas; one sister-in-law Elnora Williams, Jeanerette; a lifelong friend Gwendolyn Jones-Kelly, New Iberia; 36 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her beyond measure.
