An Iberia Parish man was indicted Friday by the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Joshua Raved, 29, is accused for the murder of Ian Jones, 28, of New Iberia, on Feb. 20. The original report from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office indicated Jones was shot around 4 a.m. that day in the 1000 block of Ambassador West Lemelle Drive.

Jones, who was in critical condition after the shooting, died in a New Orleans hospital one month later. Raved’s charged were upgraded from attempted second-degree murder to second-degree murder.

The indictment says that Raved previously was convicted on a third offense domestic abuse battery charge in 2011, which barred him from possessing a firearm.
